5-Card Stud can be dealt several ways. It can be done with any number of up or down cards. The most common variants are 1 down, 4 up and 1 down, 3 up, 1 down. you need to decide how many up and down cards their are, and if the down cards a dealt all at the start, or split at the start and end.

Play proceeds with the starting down cards and first up card dealt to each player.

Play proceeds with the highest visible hand (the first one from the Dealer's left if a tie) starting a betting round. When betting is concluded, another face-up card is dealt. Repeat until all up cards have been dealt. Then, if any down cards remain, deal each as a separate round as with the up cards.

After all cards have been dealt and betting is concluded, the winner is the Player with the highest hand.
